Get More Blooms

Do you know how to deadhead flowers?  It’s easy: Once a flower is past its peak, snip off the head. The plant will then be able to put its energy into new growth.  Even large flowers, such as sunflowers, will benefit from deadheading. Here’s a 1-2-3-4 illustration:

You can deadhead at the base, too, but in the case of sunflowers you’ll likely lose out on additional blooms.

Wow I always thought that it was important to cut the bottom of the stem at an angle so it could suck up more water and nutrients (maybe that’s important too?), but I never thought you could deadhead a flower and have it return!
