Environmentally Preferable Products and Services
Harvest RGI accepts green waste and repurposes it into essential natural landscaping products. We process over 75,000 cubic yards of compost a year, including all of the collected yard waste from Anne Arundel County. By diverting the county’s yard waste for composting, we are helping them lower the total incoming tonnage by 15% a year, saving county landfill space and lengthening the life of the landfill. Diverting green waste to Harvest RGI also lowers the amount of organic material to all landfills in Maryland, which decreases leaching, methane production into the atmosphere, and water contamination.
“We appreciate their quick response and turnaround. We often have tight deadlines that require our vendors to jump through hoops, and Harvest has been able to do that for us.”
“What I appreciate most is that with Harvest it is one stop shopping, because they handle both disposal and delivery of materials. Their service is excellent and responsive, and their staff is knowledgeable. Our schedules change frequently, but Harvest is always able to accommodate us.”

Do you carry rain garden soils?
A: Yes we do. A rain garden serves essentially the same purpose as a bioretention facility – it’s just on a smaller scale. Typically designed for single-family homes the rain garden soil is a special mix to provide proper filtration and drainage as well as the correct nutrients and structure to support plant life. Many of the commercial blends we make are perfect for rain gardens too. Give us a call and we can help you to achieve greater sustainability in your community. Learn more about rain gardens.
Q: Do you deliver? How much for delivery?
A:We do! Our fleet of dump trucks, roll-off container trucks and tractor-trailers are aimed at bulk deliveries of soil up to 20 cy per load or compost and mulch up to 80 cy per load. Pricing is based on quantity and location of delivery. Give us a call and we can get you started 410-795-7666.
Q: What do you do with the food waste?
A: Sorry, we do not accept food waste at this time.
Q: Is your mulch organic?
A: Our mulch is organic in that it’s a natural wood product. Some of our mulches are colored with all-natural colorants. Our mulches are not certified organic as there is no process to do so.
Q: Do you sell to the public?
A: Of course! Either come to one of our sites with a pickup truck or trailer, or we’ll deliver to you.
Q: Are you hiring?
A: Oftentimes, especially in the spring. Check out careers page.
Q: Is your mulch treated?
A: No, we do not treat our mulches with any chemicals. They are all organic. Although certain products do have environmentally safe colorants added. We do not add any pesticides or fungicides.
Q: Are the colorants safe?
A: Yes. Harvest only uses environmentally safe colorant. There are no handling or safety requirements for our colorants (even in their concentrated form).
Q: What is in the Ultra Brown Mulch?
A: This is our most popular colored mulch. It’s generously dyed with a non-toxic colorant. It holds its color longer than traditional mulches and features a consistent natural brown look. Most customers who visit our yards end up choosing Ultra Brown Mulch.
