Q: How much mulch should I apply?

A: We recommend at least a 3” thickness.  So if it is a new area that has never had mulch applied, apply at least 3 inches. If it is an area that historically been mulched but perhaps just needs a “touch up”, add less.

Q: What is GreenPeet?

A: GreenPeet is wood fines and shaving formerly used in horse bedding that has been naturally aged. It is a rich dark chestnut color with a fine consistency that is easy to spread. Use it in the same manner as other peat products to enhance the garden and add more nutrients than traditional mulches. Available in Fairfield, Farmington, and Ellington, or let us deliver to you.

Q: Is your mulch organic?

A: Our mulch is organic in that it’s a natural wood product. Some of our mulches are colored with all-natural colorants. Our mulches are not certified organic as there is no process to do so.

Q: Do you sell to the public?

A: Of course!  Either come to one of our sites with a pickup truck or trailer, or we’ll deliver to you (minimum of 3 cubic yards).

Q: What are your prices? What are your hours?

A: It depends on the site. Download prices lists and view hours from our Fairfield, Farmington, Ellington or Wallingford locations.

Q: Do you deliver?  How much for delivery?

A: We do!  We require a 3-cubic-yard minimum.  The cost is the (Delivery) + (Quantity * Product), with the key variable being the size of truck required to deliver your order.  Give us a call at our location closest to you:

Q: Can you deliver two items at once?

A: Our trucks are not designed to deliver multiple products at one time since there is no divider, but if you would like to have multiple materials on the same truck we can deliver. Please understand that when the truck dumps the materials will mix.

Q: Is your mulch treated?

A: No, we do not treat our mulches with any chemicals. They are all organic. Although certain products do have environmentally safe colorants added. We do not add any pesticides or fungicides.

Q: Are the colorants safe?

A: Yes. Harvest only uses environmentally safe colorant. There are no handling or safety requirements for our colorants (even in their concentrated form).
