Harvest Power, a developer of energy and compost facilities for next-generation organics recycling, has been named to AlwaysOn’s GoingGreen East Top 50 Private Companies list.  The awards recognize the most disruptive and fastest growing companies in clean and green technology in the Eastern United States and Canada.   Harvest and other honorees were selected on the basis of five criteria: market opportunity, nature of innovation, commercialization, media buzz and awareness, and ability to create stakeholder value.

“Organic waste management is a unique green solution in that it not only reduces waste, but also recycles it into valuable new commodities, including renewable energy and nutrient-rich compost,” said Paul Sellew, CEO of Harvest Power.  “We’re honored to be recognized by GoingGreen as one of the most promising companies in green today.  This award is a testament both to our success to date in creating more sustainable communities and to the future promise of our innovative technology.”

Winners were selected by the AlwaysOn editors in collaboration with KPMG from a group of over 200 applicants.  The list represents emerging growth companies from the full range of green sectors, including energy management, energy storage, green transportation, green materials and building, life-sciences, water treatment and technologies, biofuels, and wind and solar energy.

“The companies who comprise the AlwaysOn GoingGreen East 50 are leading the clean and green tech revolution by combining creativity with practical businesses solutions,” said Tony Perkins, founder and editor of AlwaysOn. “These innovative leaders all have the potential to be 'the next big thing,' and we are excited to see what the future holds for each of them.”

Harvest develops sustainable solutions for communities by recycling organic waste into energy, nutrients and organic matter.  Investors include venture firms Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Munich Venture Partners, as well as Waste Management.
