Our engineered fuels unlock the full energy potential of discarded organic materials. Industrial customers use our engineered fuels as a way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with fossil fuel consumption, stimulate jobs in the recycling industry and increase energy independence by sourcing fuels locally.Processed Engineered Fuel, or “PEF” is derived from recovered woodwaste materials and made from clean wood, painted wood, plywood, oriented strand board, particle board, shake and shingles, film plastics, rigid plastics, cardboard and tar paper. PEF can be used as an alternative fuel source to coal. Hog Fuel, which comes from the Norwegian word “hogge” meaning “hacked or chipped,” refers to an unprocessed mix of coarse chips of bark and wood fiber. Hog fuel can be used to efficiently drive boiler systems, which then can produce electricity and heat.
